Job Description
Job Title: Associate Scientist, Downstream Process Development and Manufacturing (Contract) Role Summary: Associate Scientist in Downstream Process Development responsible for designing, scaling, and validating multi‑step protein purification processes for therapeutic antibodies. Works with contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs) to transfer and oversee GMP manufacturing, ensuring process robustness, regulatory compliance, and data integrity. Expectations: - Execute end‑to‑end purification development and scale‑up activities. - Produce accurate documentation and presentations of experimental findings. - Collaborate with CMOs to transfer processes, review batch records, and provide technical support. - Demonstrate independent, proactive work style with strong communication skills. Key Responsibilities: 1. Develop and scale‑up robust, multi‑step purification workflows (chromatography, filtration, diafiltration). 2. Document experimental data in laboratory notebooks and generate technical reports. 3. Present results at project and group meetings. 4. Implement new purification technologies to enhance process efficiency. 5. Transfer validated processes to CMO sites for GMP manufacturing and oversee production activities. 6. Review and evaluate CMO batch records for compliance and quality. 7. Provide in‑house material production support as needed. Required Skills: - Proficiency in protein purification techniques (column chromatography, membrane filtration, ultrafiltration/diafiltration). - Hands‑on experience with AKTA chromatography systems and Unicorn software. - Ability to analyze complex process data and troubleshoot issues. - Strong written and oral communication; ability to present data clearly. - Independent, self‑motivated work approach with minimal supervision. - Travel capability and experience performing person‑in‑plant manufacturing oversight at CMOs (preferred). - Experience collaborating with external manufacturing vendors and partners (preferred). Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related scientific field (minimum 6 years industry experience). - Master’s degree in same field (minimum 4 years industry experience).
