Job Description
Job title: IT Helpdesk Internship Role Summary: Entry‑level support role assisting the IT Service Desk with laptop/PC deployment, peripheral setup, software installation, ticket management, basic troubleshooting, documentation, and learning from senior technicians. Expactations: 10‑week internship, 15‑20 hours per week (schedule negotiated with department), no benefits, potential nights/weekends/holidays as needed. Key Responsibilities - Unbox and configure computers, monitors, keyboards, mice, and docking stations. - Install operating systems, software, and peripheral devices. - Transfer data between devices and retire legacy equipment. - Respond to incoming hardware/software queries via phone and ticketing system. - Create, update, and close support tickets. - Troubleshoot and resolve basic issues in person or remotely. - Document solutions and maintain accurate records. - Escalate complex issues to higher‑level support staff. - Shadow and learn from IT technicians, contributing to broader infrastructure tasks. Required Skills - Fundamental computer literacy and Windows OS proficiency. - Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, home/office networks). - Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills. - Excellent customer‑service attitude and interpersonal communication. - Ability to work independently and within a team. - Meticulous documentation and organizational abilities. - Adaptability to shifting priorities and learning new tools. Required Education & Certifications - Current enrollment in a college or technical program pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. - Equivalent experience may substitute academic enrollment. - No mandatory certifications; CompTIA IT Fundamentals or ITIL Foundation knowledge is a plus. - No benefits provided.
