**Job title:** Data Scientist, Jr.
**Role Summary:** Assists in converting large volumes of structured and unstructured data into actionable insights, building predictive models, and creating visualizations to support decision-making across diverse sectors such as national security, healthcare, and fraud detection.
**Expactations:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field.
- Proven experience in data exploration, cleaning, analysis, and visualization.
- Hands‑on knowledge of statistical and general‑purpose programming languages (Python, R).
- Experience developing predictive models and performing quantitative analyses.
- Familiarity with natural language processing, text mining, or machine learning techniques.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness clearance as required.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Collaborate with clients to define data‑related questions and objectives.
- Perform exploratory data analysis, data cleaning, and transformation.
- Develop and refine algorithms and models to solve complex problems.
- Implement machine learning and NLP methods to enhance analysis.
- Create visualizations and reports that effectively communicate findings.
- Work with cross‑functional teams to integrate data solutions into operational workflows.
- Lead innovative solution development for complex programs and challenges.
- Stay updated on latest trends and advancements in data science and machine learning.
**Required Skills:**
- Programming: Python (pandas, numpy, scikit‑learn, tensorflow/pytorch) or R (tidyverse, caret, mlr3).
- Statistical & ML: regression, classification, clustering, time‑series, model tuning.
- NLP: tokenization, embeddings, topic modeling, sentiment analysis.
- Data Visualization: matplotlib/seaborn, ggplot2, Tableau or Power BI.
- Data Engineering: SQL, data pipelines, Spark/Databricks (preferred).
- Problem‑solving, critical thinking, and effective communication.
- Version control (git) and basic cloud/on‑prem deployment knowledge.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related discipline.
- Public Trust clearance or ability to obtain suitability/fitness clearance as required.
