Job Description
Job Title: Function Tester Role Summary: Conduct functional testing and verification of fire safety and electrical systems to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Perform on‑site inspections, troubleshoot equipment, and document results to support certification and maintenance activities. Expectations: * Achieve 95%+ compliance accuracy in all system tests. * Complete testing cycles within agreed timelines and maintain detailed logs. * Provide actionable recommendations to improve system reliability and safety. * Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of applicable codes and standards. Key Responsibilities: * Execute functional tests on fire detection, suppression, alarm, and electrical distribution components. * Inspect installation integrity, wiring, grounding, and protective device settings. * Operate test equipment (multimeters, thermal cameras, autotrigger devices) to assess performance. * Prepare clear and concise test reports, including findings, corrective actions, and certification status. * Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, and client teams to schedule and conduct tests. * Recommend system upgrades or maintenance actions based on test outcomes. * Ensure all documentation complies with local and international safety regulations. Required Skills: * Proficient understanding of fire protection and electrical codes (e.g., NFPA 72, NFPA 70, IEC 60364). * Experience with functional testing methodologies for alarm and suppression systems. * Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities. * Excellent written and verbal communication for reporting and client interaction. * Ability to work independently and manage multiple testing schedules. Required Education & Certifications: * Minimum high‑school diploma; associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or related field preferred. * Valid certifications such as Certified Fire Protection Inspector (CFPI), Certified Electrical Inspector, or equivalent. * Demonstrated training in functional testing procedures and safety system operation.
