Windows Application Support Engineer – Windows COTS & Integrations
**Role Summary**
Provide operational support and ongoing maintenance for Windows-hosted commercial off‑the‑sale (COTS) applications and associated infrastructure. Manage integration with identity and access management systems (e.g., Okta), IIS web servers, and automate tasks via scripting. Ensure high availability, rapid incident resolution, and compliance with regulatory and security standards.
**Expectations**
- Maintain 99.9 % uptime for production COTS applications and supporting IIS services.
- Deliver timely patching, upgrades, and defect fixes.
- Build and maintain automated deployment, monitoring, and remediation scripts.
- Adhere to ITIL processes, SLAs, and governance frameworks.
**Key Responsibilities**
1. Operate and upgrade Windows Server environments hosting COTS applications across production, UAT, and development.
2. Coordinate patching, version upgrades, and vendor communication.
3. Configure and maintain IIS web servers (SSL/TLS, bindings, pools, security hardening).
4. Integrate applications with IAM platforms (Okta or similar) – SSO, SAML/OIDC, user provisioning, attribute mapping.
5. Develop and maintain PowerShell, batch, and optional Python scripts for deployment, monitoring, log parsing, and remediation.
6. Troubleshoot performance, authentication, availability, and error issues in collaboration with infrastructure, security, development, and vendor teams.
7. Review and support release management activities (upgrade/patch reviews, scripting, deployments, rollback plans).
8. Create and update technical documentation: runbooks, change plans, operational procedures, escalation protocols.
9. Monitor metrics, alerts, and SLAs; manage incident and problem lifecycles.
10. Engage with vendor support for patches, bug fixes, feature requests, and licensing.
11. Provide on‑call or out‑of‑hours support as required.
**Required Skills**
- Windows Server support (2012/2016/2019/2022)
- COTS application maintenance in regulated or financial services environments
- IIS administration (configuration, SSL/TLS, performance tuning, security hardening)
- Integration with IAM/Okta – SSO, SAML, OIDC, user provisioning
- PowerShell scripting (mandatory); additional scripting (Python, batch) acceptable
- Networking, authentication, and enterprise security fundamentals
- Monitoring/alerting tools and performance diagnostics
- ITIL framework familiarity (Incident, Change, Problem Management)
- Ability to work under SLA constraints and manage multiple priorities
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR equivalent experience
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server (MCSA/MCSA) or equivalent Windows certification
- Okta or IAM certification (preferred)
- ITIL Foundation certification (preferred)
