Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer
Role Summary: Deliver comprehensive system design for C4I systems on MoD development, delivery, and R&D programmes, applying world‑class systems engineering practices across the full engineering lifecycle.
Expactations: • Produce robust system designs and interface definitions that meet user and system requirements. • Collaborate with specialty engineering, development, integration, and test teams to ensure coherent system solutions. • Lead design evaluations, model performance, and trade studies. • Manage design documentation, planning, estimating, and monitoring activities. • Contribute to safety, security, ILS, and SI&T inputs in a multidisciplinary environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse user and system documentation to generate design solutions.
- Engage specialist engineering teams for complete system development.
- Evaluate and model system performance to inform design decisions and trade studies.
- Specify system interfaces and components; manage design through its lifecycle.
- Collaborate with development, integration, and test teams on system design and component development.
- Conduct requirements elicitation, interface definition, and design analysis with stakeholders.
- Support system engineering management through planning, estimating, monitoring, and control.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary team for safety, security, ILS, and SI&T inputs.
- Present and deliver formal progress reviews.
Required Skills:
- Broad systems engineering experience in defence development programmes.
- Strong analytical, fault‑finding, and problem‑solving skills.
- Proven ability to use structured design methods and produce well‑structured technical documents.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and presentation skills.
- Experience with Model‑Based Systems Engineering tools and SysML.
- Knowledge of safety, security, and ILS processes.
- Understanding of computer, network infrastructures, and military hardware.
- Familiarity with relevant engineering standards.
- Willingness to travel occasionally.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Electrical, Computer, Aerospace, or related engineering discipline.
- Professional systems engineering certification (e.g., INCOSE) is highly desirable.
