**Job Title**
Therapies Practice Development Lead
**Role Summary**
Lead the design, coordination, and delivery of education, training, and professional development initiatives for the therapies team in an acute hospital setting. Serve as a mentor and preceptor to physiotherapists and occupational therapists, ensuring high‑quality, patient‑centred care through robust competency frameworks, apprenticeship programs, and student placement support.
**Expectations**
- Deliver and oversee preceptorship, in‑service training, boot camps, apprenticeships, and induction programs.
- Manage student placement coordination and provide ongoing support to learners and educators.
- Work autonomously, meet deadlines, and drive continuous improvement in clinical practice.
- Participate in a 7‑day clinical service, including respiratory on‑call rota (overnight and weekends).
- Collaborate with inpatient therapies, enablement centre, rehab, and hand therapy teams.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Plan, develop, and implement education and professional development strategies for the therapies workforce.
- Lead preceptorship and mentorship activities, fostering staff competency and career progression.
- Coordinate all student placement activities, acting as primary liaison for students and academic partners.
- Review and update competency frameworks, job descriptions, and performance standards.
- Conduct in‑service training sessions, boot camps, and apprenticeship curricula.
- Participate in clinical duties primarily in a teaching/mentoring capacity while maintaining patient care responsibilities.
- Contribute to therapy leadership meetings and advise on workforce development initiatives.
**Required Skills**
- Registered Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist with substantial acute‑hospital experience.
- Proven teaching, mentorship, and curriculum development abilities.
- Strong time‑management, organizational, and project‑management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to influence and lead change.
- Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and on‑call rotations.
- Proficiency in reviewing competencies, job descriptions, and clinical governance standards.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy.
- Current registration with the appropriate professional body (e.g., HCPC, NMC).
- Additional qualifications in education, training, or leadership (preferred but not mandatory).
