Job Description
**Job Title** Core Systems Engineer **Role Summary** Design, implement, and operate Nutanix HCI and Azure infrastructure, ensuring high availability, stability, and security. Manage day‑to‑day operations, perform upgrades, deploy new systems, and provide 3rd‑line support for incidents. **Expectations** - Minimum 5 years in core infrastructure or equivalent IT engineering roles. - Proven expertise with VMware, Nutanix HCI (AHV, storage, replication, lifecycle). - Strong Windows Server and Active Directory administration skills. - Experience with Azure hybrid environments, Azure Entra ID, Azure Backup, Site Recovery, and networking. - Ability to troubleshoot, optimize performance, and document processes. **Key Responsibilities** - Monitor and maintain physical/virtual server infrastructure (Windows/Linux). - Manage storage platforms (NAS, Azure, object storage). - Support OS lifecycle, patching, and hardening in line with security standards. - Deploy new systems from proof‑of‑concept to production. - Maintain database infrastructure at platform level. - Design and build Windows servers on VMware & Nutanix HCI with resilience. - Architect Azure‑integrated hybrid solutions (identity, backup, recovery). - Plan and execute infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and new builds. - Own backup and disaster recovery strategies for VMware, Nutanix, Azure. - Monitor capacity, performance, and health across platforms; proactively address risks. - Maintain high‑quality technical documentation, diagrams, and runbooks. - Test and refine disaster‑recovery and business‑continuity plans. - Escalate complex incidents and serve as technical escalation point. - Participate in on‑call rota and occasional out‑of‑hours support. **Required Skills** - VMware vSphere, Nutanix AHV (storage, replication, lifecycle). - Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, SCCM/Intune. - Azure services: Azure Entra ID, Entra Connect, Azure Backup, Site Recovery, networking. - Backup & recovery solutions: Veeam, HYCU, or equivalent. - High‑availability, disaster‑recovery, and business‑continuity principles. - Enterprise networking concepts (LAN/WAN, routing, ACLs). - Scripting/automation: PowerShell (or equivalent). - Troubleshooting, analytical problem solving, capacity planning. **Required Education & Certifications** - Professional certifications such as VMware Certified Professional, Nutanix Certified Engineer, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator or equivalent are highly desirable.
