Senior Linux Engineer
**Role Summary**
Design, deploy, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (R8/9), Rocky Linux, Oracle Linux, and Solaris 11 environments across on‑premises and cloud platforms. Ensure system stability, high availability, security compliance, and performance while automating operational tasks and supporting application teams. Collaborate with security, networking, and development teams to deliver resilient Unix‑based services.
**Expectations**
- 5+ years of hands‑on Linux/Solaris engineering in a banking or financial services setting.
- Proven ability to lead incident management, root‑cause analysis, and on‑call support.
- Strong stakeholder communication and partnership skills.
- Commitment to continuous improvement, DevOps practices, and automation.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Build, patch, upgrade, and harden RHEL, Rocky, Oracle Linux, and Solaris servers.
- Create and maintain system images and RPM packages.
- Automate repetitive tasks using Ansible, Python, Bash, or similar tools.
- Monitor system health, perform performance tuning, and conduct capacity planning.
- Lead incident response, conduct root‑cause analysis, and drive fix‑at‑source solutions.
- Manage OS lifecycle: vendor patch deployment, EOL tracking, and remediation planning.
- Identify and remediate hardware/software obsolescence.
- Document configurations, procedures, and technical guidance for service delivery teams.
- Support disaster recovery, business continuity testing, and audit remediation activities.
- Participate in out‑of‑hours on‑call rotation and project work as required.
**Required Skills**
- Expertise with RHEL 8/9, Rocky Linux, Oracle Linux, Solaris 11.
- Strong scripting/automation: Ansible, Python, Bash.
- Experience with RPM packaging and image management.
- Solid understanding of security hardening, patch management, and compliance frameworks.
- Performance tuning, capacity management, and troubleshooting of complex OS issues.
- Familiarity with financial applications (e.g., Murex) is a plus.
- Incident management and root‑cause analysis capabilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
- DevOps mindset with agile collaboration experience.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Relevant certifications preferred: RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer), RHCA, Solaris System Administration, or comparable Linux/Unix credentials.
