Job Description
Job Title: Senior Development Engineer Role Summary Lead the late‑stage prototype development of a novel environmental monitoring sensing platform. Design, fabricate, and validate core hardware modules—including opto‑mechanical, microfluidic, and electronic subsystems—ensuring robustness, manufacturability, and field readiness. Work cross‑functionally with mechanical, optical, and electronics teams to deliver the first commercial product. Expectations - Drive prototype advancement from concept to production‑ready architecture. - Apply rigorous engineering practices to improve product reliability, thermal/mechanical stability, optical performance, and environmental durability. - Champion root‑cause analysis, continuous improvement, and stakeholder communication. Key Responsibilities 1. Build, test, and iterate functional prototypes; evaluate performance, usability, robustness, and manufacturability. 2. Diagnose and resolve issues across opto‑mechanical, microfluidic, and electronic subsystems. 3. Specify, design, fabricate, test, and optimize precision opto‑mechanical assemblies, fixtures, and alignment mechanisms. 4. Create detailed 2‑D and 3‑D CAD models and engineering drawings (SolidWorks preferred). 5. Produce technical documentation—specifications, test protocols, build instructions, drawings, revision control, BOMs. 6. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate hardware, firmware, and user‑experience considerations. Required Skills - 3+ years product‑development experience in a multidisciplinary R&D or new‑product‑development setting. - Demonstrated opto‑mechanical hardware development expertise. - Strong foundation in mechanical design principles, material selection, and common manufacturing processes. - Advanced proficiency in 3‑D CAD (SolidWorks). - Hands‑on prototyping: SLA/FDM 3‑D printing, machining, laser cutting, cable assembly. - Ability to conduct root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions. - Excellent technical documentation and revision control skills. - Adaptability, proactive problem solving, and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, evolving environment. Required Education & Certifications - Bachelor’s degree, HND, or equivalent industrial experience in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering, or a related discipline. (End of profile)
