Job Description
**Job title:** Data Scientist Intern **Role Summary:** Support the end‑to‑end data science lifecycle for healthcare projects: translate client needs into analytical problems, design and implement data solutions, perform modeling and interpret results, and deliver project outputs while maintaining ongoing scientific and technological knowledge. **Expectations:** - 6‑month internship (typical duration) or flexible term depending on academic schedule. - Active participation in cross‑functional project teams, including client interactions, technical research, and knowledge transfer. - Propose thoughtful, evidence‑based solutions and communicate findings clearly to technical and non‑technical stakeholders. **Key Responsibilities:** - Translate client requirements into data science problem statements. - Design, construct, and document data pipelines and models (statistical, machine learning, or deep learning). - Conduct exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and model evaluation. - Produce visualizations, dashboards, and technical reports for clients. - Engage in continuous learning and keep abreast of emerging science, methods, and tools relevant to data science in healthcare. - Collaborate with senior data scientists and project managers to refine solutions and deliverables. - Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and version control using Git. **Required Skills:** - Proficient in Python (pandas, scikit‑learn, matplotlib, seaborn). - Strong foundation in statistical analysis and machine learning techniques. - Ability to synthesize technical concepts and articulate risks and benefits. - Excellent written and verbal communication; persuasive presentation skills. - Organizational, detail‑oriented, and teamwork‑oriented mindset. **Additional Preferred Skills:** - Experience with continuous integration and unit testing workflows. - Exposure to distributed computing frameworks (Spark, Dask) or parallel processing. - Familiarity with R programming and biostatistics libraries. - Prior involvement in healthcare‑related data projects or industry knowledge. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Undergraduate (B.Sc.) or graduate (M.Sc.) degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s in Data Science is highly desirable. - Completed coursework or certifications in data science, machine learning, or statistics (e.g., Coursera, edX, or university programs). ---
