Job Description

**Job Title:** Software Engineer – Industrial Placement (2026) **Role Summary:** 12‑month full‑time placement for undergraduate students in computing, mathematics or computer science. Join a product development team building web and mobile applications, utilizing AI‑enhanced development tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor) and a modern tech stack (React.js, Node.js, TypeScript). Work in an agile environment on features such as booking flows, customer‑facing assistants, and supplier integrations. **Expectations:** - Demonstrate curiosity, initiative, and a strong willingness to learn. - Collaborate effectively with engineers, product owners, designers, and architects. - Adapt to evolving engineering practices and AI‑augmented workflows. - Communicate clearly and maintain a customer‑focused mindset. - Deliver clean, well‑tested code and participate in code reviews. **Key Responsibilities:** - Write, unit‑test, and maintain code across multiple codebases. - Leverage AI coding tools for code generation, debugging, refactoring, and architectural exploration. - Contribute to agile sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, and retrospectives. - Participate in cross‑functional collaboration to design, ship, and improve software features. - Apply prompt‑engineering techniques to solve engineering problems. - Support the processing of ~3 million bookings per year through reliable feature development. **Required Skills:** - Basic programming experience (any language) with a strong interest in software development. - Problem‑solving mindset and ability to explore multiple solutions. - Effective teamwork and collaboration abilities. - Adaptability to change and openness to feedback. - Strong verbal and written communication skills. - Enthusiasm for emerging technologies, especially AI in software engineering. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Computer Science, Computing, Mathematics, or a related field. - Must be seeking a placement as an assessed component of the degree program. - No specific certifications required; willingness to learn industry‑standard tools and practices.
