Applied AI Engineer, Federal
**Role Summary**
Leverage deep AI and software engineering expertise to design, develop, and deploy secure, scalable solutions for federal government and enterprise partners. Act as a hands‑on technical lead, owning strategy and execution of mission‑critical AI projects in regulated environments.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Drive development and enhancement of core product models and underlying ML architecture.
- Identify customer pain points, scope specifications, and design LLM‑powered software for governmental or enterprise use cases.
- Benchmark models, create evaluation frameworks, and assess performance against customer compliance standards.
- Tune prompts and fine‑tune models to improve accuracy, while ensuring secure and scalable deployment.
- Analyze request logs, prompt data, and system outputs to guarantee reliability, auditability, and traceability.
- Build internal tooling and automation to streamline workflows within secure environments.
- Refine SDKs and developer documentation based on customer feedback, emphasizing usability for government and enterprise developers.
**Required Skills**
- 6+ years of software engineering in high‑availability or security‑centric environments.
- Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript; solid understanding of HTTP, secure API design, and RESTful principles.
- Experience building AI/ML products with APIs, back‑end systems, and front‑end interfaces.
- Strong verbal and written communication in English; ability to document solutions for technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Demonstrated success working with federal agencies, DoD, or federal contractors on AI, software, or data projects.
- Familiarity with large‑scale data, performance optimization, and scaling for high‑throughput workloads.
- Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code tools (Pulumi, Terraform) for secure or government‑aligned deployments.
- Knowledge of ML fundamentals: model evaluation, training, fine‑tuning, and production deployment.
- Ability to develop evaluation frameworks and audit pipelines in regulated contexts.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, Data Science, or related field.
- U.S. security clearance (Secret, Top Secret) preferred; eligibility to obtain one is highly desirable.
