Job Description
Job title: General Counsel – Americas Role Summary Senior legal executive responsible for the U.S., Canada, and Latin American jurisdictions. Provides strategic counsel on commercial contracts, litigation, compliance, acquisitions, and risk. Partners with business leaders, mentors junior staff, and supports cross‑functional initiatives across ESG, cybersecurity, and supply‑chain services. Expectations - Lead legal function across the Americas, reporting to Group General Counsel. - Drive legal strategy in a growth‑oriented, high‑volume, and acquisitive environment. - Deliver timely, business‑focused advice and influence senior stakeholders. Key Responsibilities - Draft, negotiate, and manage a broad portfolio of commercial agreements (SaaS/software, consultancy, supplier contracts). - Oversee all litigation matters; manage external counsel for complex cases. - Conduct investigations and support risk & compliance programs. - Provide legal input on acquisition due diligence, onboarding, and integration activities. - Participate in global insurance program coordination. - Mentor and develop junior legal professionals; provide training. Required Skills - Expert commercial contracting and supply‑side deal expertise. - Strong litigation management and external counsel oversight. - Due‑diligence and M&A integration proficiency. - High business‑partnering acumen and influence on senior leadership. - Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and emotional intelligence. - Proactive, hands‑on “sleeves‑up” approach. - Ability to operate across multiple sectors and jurisdictions. - Spanish language fluency desirable. Required Education & Certifications - Qualified solicitor in the United States. - Minimum 10 years post‑qualification experience (PQE), combining law‑firm and in‑house roles. ---
