**Job Title:** Senior Process Engineer
**Role Summary:**
Lead the design, development, and implementation of process engineering solutions for nuclear plant systems at a UK defence site. Ensure safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance throughout the engineering lifecycle, providing through‑life support and collaborating across mechanical, chemical, and process disciplines.
**Expectations:**
- Deliver end‑to‑end process design projects from concept to implementation.
- Produce, review, and approve technical documentation, drawings, and reports.
- Conduct engineering analyses, calculations, structural assessments, and fluid‑flow modelling.
- Maintain compliance with nuclear licence conditions, statutory requirements, and engineering codes/standards.
- Support the operational life of nuclear process systems and mentor junior engineers.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Lead critical process design initiatives across all design phases.
- Manage technical documentation control and ensure accurate approvals.
- Perform engineering calculations, component assessments, and system modelling.
- Interface with multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate solutions.
- Oversee project specification, planning, budgeting, and risk management.
- Ensure adherence to relevant codes, standards, and regulatory legislation.
**Required Skills:**
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles for pressure and pipework systems.
- Experience with the engineering design lifecycle and documentation controls.
- Proficiency in at least one area: pressure systems, component simulation, nuclear plant design, CAD, or fluid‑flow analysis.
- Familiarity with engineering codes, standards, and regulated‑industry legislation.
- Project specification, planning, and budgeting experience.
- Ability to work in regulated environments (nuclear, defence, oil & gas, utilities).
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Minimum HND, FdSc, FdEng or equivalent in Mechanical, Process, or Chemical Engineering.
- Professional registration (e.g., IEng/CEng) or working towards it (desirable).
- Eligibility for UK National status and ability to obtain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance.
