IT Desktop Support Engineer
**Role Summary**
Deliver onsite technical support for end‑users, handling troubleshooting, installation, and maintenance of desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals. Ensure compliance with security policies and warranty requirements while providing quick, effective desk‑side and break‑fix assistance across Windows, macOS, and Linux environments.
**Expectations**
- Perform field support for hardware and software issues.
- Install, configure, and maintain desktop systems and peripherals.
- Resolve network problems (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, RDP).
- Conduct Smart Hands tasks (rack/stack, patching, hardware setup).
- Document incidents, analyze repeat calls, and contribute to problem management.
- Adhere to warranty and security standards.
- Manage workloads independently and meet deadlines.
- Lift and move equipment up to 50 lb.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and OS issues (Windows 10/11, macOS, Linux).
- Install, configure, and patch desktops, laptops, printers, and peripheral devices.
- Provide desk‑side and break‑fix support, including basic OS administration.
- Perform Smart Hands activities: rack/stack, network patching, hardware setup.
- Resolve network connectivity issues (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, RDP).
- Maintain end‑user cabling and conduct preventive maintenance.
- Analyze repeat call data and support problem management initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with hardware warranty and security regulations.
**Required Skills**
- Hands‑on troubleshooting for Windows, macOS, Linux, and peripheral devices.
- Strong knowledge of desktops, laptops, printers, and imaging/patching tools (SCCM, Intune).
- Experience with ServiceNow/Remedy or similar ticketing systems.
- Basic understanding of LAN/WAN infrastructure and common network protocols.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and stakeholder interaction.
- Self‑motivated, proactive, organized, and deadline‑focused.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 lb.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Associate degree in Electronics, Computer Science, or related field (preferred).
- CompTIA A+ certification (required).
- OEM certifications (Dell, Toshiba, Lenovo, HP, etc.) desirable.
