Platform Engineer

Job Description

**Job Title** Platform Engineer **Role Summary** Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure platform services for a system and authentication upgrade program. Work across multiple cloud environments, container orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, and database systems. Contribute to architecture decisions, code quality, and automated testing while ensuring compliance with security standards. **Expectations** - Obtain UK Security Clearance (SC) or be eligible for the clearance process. - Participate in on‑site sessions (approximately two days a week) while working remotely otherwise. - Deliver reliable, high‑availability platform components that meet functional and security requirements. **Key Responsibilities** - Design and implement micro‑service components using Java and Python. - Develop and maintain authentication services with PingDS and PingIDM. - Configure and manage load balancing (HAProxy) and service discovery. - Build and maintain containerized deployments on Docker/Kubernetes. - Create and manage infrastructure-as-code with Terraform and cloud provider APIs (AWS, Azure). - Automate build, test, and deployment pipelines using Jenkins, Maven, GitHub Actions. - Develop performance tests with Gatling (Scala) and API tests with Karate/Playwright. - Monitor, log, and troubleshoot production services; implement alerting and reporting. - Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on architecture reviews, code reviews, and security assessments. **Required Skills** - Proficiency in Java (including Spring) and Python programming. - Experience with PingDS, PingIDM, and HAProxy. - Strong database knowledge: PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server. - Containerization (Docker), registries (Artifactory). - Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure. - Orchestration and managing container clusters (Kubernetes). - Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation). - CI/CD pipeline development (Jenkins, GitHub Actions). - Build tools (Maven, Gradle). - Version control (GitHub). - Performance testing (Gatling). - End‑to‑end testing frameworks (Karate, Playwright). **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience). - UK SC clearance processed or eligibility to undergo clearance. - Relevant cloud or container certifications (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator) preferred but not mandatory.
