Job Description
**Job title:** Quantum Software Intern **Role Summary:** Conduct a technical research project on near‑term quantum algorithms. Design or implement algorithms and analyze their performance, potentially on real or simulated quantum hardware, within a startup environment focused on foundational quantum computing. **Expectations:** - Complete a 2–3 month internship, often during summer, contributing to publishable research. - Demonstrate curiosity and willingness to learn advanced quantum concepts. - Produce clear, reproducible code and documentation. **Key Responsibilities:** - Investigate, design, or refine quantum algorithms for problems such as Hamiltonian simulation or fermionic encodings. - Implement algorithms in quantum SDKs (Cirq, Qiskit, QuEST) or simulate them on classical platforms (Python, Julia). - Analyze algorithmic complexity and optimize for available hardware constraints. - Collaborate with senior researchers; present findings in team meetings and prepare written reports. **Required Skills:** - Strong knowledge of algorithm design and analysis. - Proficient in Python programming; experience in numerical libraries (NumPy, SciPy). - Familiarity with quantum development frameworks (Cirq, Qiskit, QuEST). - Ability to work autonomously in a research setting. **Desired Skills:** - Background in quantum computing or quantum information theory (formal or independent study). - Experience with Julia programming. - Exposure to classical algorithmic work in physics or materials science contexts. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related discipline. - No specific certifications required.
