Job Description
**Job title:** Senior Data Engineer – Microsoft Fabric / Azure **Role Summary:** Own and manage the Microsoft Fabric data platform, design and implement robust data pipelines and layered data models, and ensure governance, performance, and cost efficiency across analytics initiatives. **Expactations:** Deliver a scalable, secure Fabric environment that supports high‑quality datasets for Power BI and other analytics tools, set data engineering standards, and collaborate with DevOps, IT, data science, and business stakeholders to drive data‑driven decision making. **Key Responsibilities:** - Manage the Fabric ecosystem (OneLake, Pipelines, Dataflows, Notebooks). - Build automated, batch‑oriented ingestion pipelines from flat files and APIs. - Design and orchestrate workflows with Fabric Pipelines, Azure Data Factory, or equivalent. - Develop and maintain Bronze‑Silver‑Gold medallion data models. - Produce optimized datasets for Power BI consumption. - Implement CI/CD, testing, version control best practices. - Monitor, tune, and optimise pipeline performance, cost, and reliability. - Coordinate with DevOps and IT to enforce security, compliance, and governance policies. - Provide guidance and establish data engineering practices within the digital team. **Required Skills:** - Strong experience with Azure data stack (Fabric, Data Factory, Synapse). - Proficiency in SQL and Python for ETL/ELT and automation. - Solid knowledge of CI/CD, Git, and DevOps workflows for data projects. - Expertise in designing layered data architectures and medallion models. - Ability to work independently and set foundational standards. - Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills. **Nice to Have:** - Direct experience with Microsoft Fabric. - Experience with distributed processing (Spark). - Familiarity with AWS, GCP, Snowflake, or Databricks. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline. - Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP‑203) or equivalent certification preferred.
