**Job Title**
Fire Engineer – Group Levels Up to Associate Director
**Role Summary**
Provide engineering design, analysis, and client‑facing support for fire safety solutions across commercial, institutional, and high‑profile projects. Progression from entry‑level Engineer to Associate Director is supported through complex project ownership, mentorship, and strategic stakeholder management.
**Expectations**
- Attend multi‑disciplinary design workshops, client briefings, and site inspections.
- Travel domestically and occasionally overseas to deliver projects.
- Drive project completion through accurate design output, deliverable preparation, and timely invoicing.
- Foster professional growth of junior staff and contribute to the firm’s expertise.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Perform fire protection design, including smoke control, fire resistance, and structural fire safety.
- Conduct computational modelling: evacuation, smoke movement, heat radiation, and structural fire behaviour.
- Create specifications, drawings, schedules, and detailed design reports.
- Liaise with designers, architects, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
- Manage project budgets, WIP, and workload planning.
- Lead or support client presentations and technical discussions.
- Mentor apprentices, graduates, and junior engineers.
- Keep current with industry developments and contribute to research activities.
**Required Skills**
- Strong technical foundation in fire safety design and risk assessment.
- Proficiency with fire modelling software (e.g., CFAST, Fire Dynamics Simulator, Pathfinder, SOLIDWORKS Flame, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
- Project management capabilities: scheduling, invoicing, resource allocation.
- Ability to work independently and within multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Commitment to professional development and industry best practices.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Building Services, Architecture, Architecture/Engineering, Mathematics or Physics (or equivalent).
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or strong intention to achieve within 2–3 years.
- Membership with a recognised fire engineering body (e.g., Institution of Fire Engineers, Society for Fire Protection Engineers).
- Relevant fire engineering training or certification is highly desirable.
