Job Description

**Job title:** Infrastructure Engineer **Role Summary:** Responsible for designing, building, managing, and supporting on‑premise IT infrastructure that underpins a tactical mission network for a defense organization. Works within an IT engineering team, collaborating with project and security stakeholders, and maintains high reliability and user experience. **Expectations:** - Minimum 3 years experience as an Infrastructure Engineer. - Minimum 8 years in a related IT field. - UKNSV Security Clearance of SC (DV desirable). - Broad technical knowledge across Linux, Windows Server, VMware (or Hyper‑V) virtualization, and Cisco networking fundamentals. **Key Responsibilities:** - Design, develop, deploy, and maintain mission‑critical IT infrastructure. - Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve infrastructure issues. - Monitor system performance and implement optimization measures. - Build and configure end‑user devices. - Apply security best practices and support compliance with ISO27001, Cyber Essentials+. - Communicate technical information clearly to non‑technical stakeholders. **Required Skills:** - Linux OS and Windows Server administration. - Virtualization technologies (VMware ESXi, Hyper‑V). - Cisco routing and switching fundamentals (basic to intermediate). - Analytical and troubleshooting mindset. - Strong written and verbal communication. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. **Desirable Skills (not mandatory but preferred):** - Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform). - Scripting/automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash). - Container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Podman). - Enterprise system administration (Atlassian, GitHub, M365). **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, IT, or related field. - Professional certifications (CCNA, RHCA, MCSE, VCP‑DCV) highly regarded.
