Job Description
Job title: Senior Electrical Design Engineer Role Summary: Lead the design, delivery, and management of large‑scale electrical projects across sectors such as government, data centres, healthcare, rail, and residential. Supervise a small engineering team, produce high‑quality engineering designs and documentation, ensure compliance with quality, safety and environmental standards, and mentor junior staff. Expectations: Deliver projects on time and within budget, maintain high design and documentation standards, support professional development of team members, engage with clients and stakeholders, and conduct site visits to monitor progress and resolve issues. Key Responsibilities: - Manage end‑to‑end electrical design projects, including scope definition, scheduling, and budgeting. - Lead and review technical drawings, calculations, and specifications. - Supervise and coordinate the production of engineering reports and deliverables. - Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering skill growth and career progression. - Attend client and project meetings, present progress updates, and incorporate feedback. - Conduct site visits to evaluate construction progress and address technical issues. - Ensure compliance with project management processes, QA/QC, environmental, and health & safety procedures. - Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and external suppliers to meet project objectives. Required Skills: - Advanced technical competence in electrical engineering design. - Proven project management and programme planning experience. - Proficiency with advanced design software; knowledge of Amtech and Dialux preferred. - Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication abilities. - Leadership and mentorship skills with the ability to inspire a small team. - Initiative and capability to overcome technical and organisational challenges. - Effective client‑facing communication and stakeholder management. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related engineering discipline. - Relevant consultancy or project‑management experience is highly desirable. - Professional engineering registration (e.g., P.Eng., PE) is a plus.
