Job Description
**Job Title:** FTTH / FTTP Engineer **Role Summary:** Responsible for the end‑to‑end installation, maintenance, and support of fibre‑to‑the‑home (FTTH) and fibre‑to‑the‑premises (FTTP) networks on the Openreach infrastructure. Works on network build‑outs, customer site installations, and ongoing network upkeep, ensuring service quality, safety, and accurate documentation. **Expectations:** - Perform physical installation of overhead fiber lines and underground ducts. - Deliver customer‑ready connections and resolve on‑site issues. - Maintain network integrity and adhere to safety and quality protocols. - Log work and update records promptly using internal systems. **Key Responsibilities:** 1. **Network Build‑outs** – Install new telecom services by running overhead lines on utility poles and subducting protective ducts underground. 2. **Customer Installations** – Visit residential or business sites to install internal cabling, configure equipment, and verify service functionality. 3. **Network Maintenance** – Operate within live network infrastructure, troubleshoot faults, and perform routine upkeep on ducts and poles. 4. **Quality & Safety** – Follow strict safety procedures, keep work areas clean, and ensure all equipment meets operational standards. 5. **Reporting & Administration** – Record activities, update job statuses, and submit accurate reports in a timely manner. **Required Skills:** - Practical knowledge of fibre‑optic network installation and maintenance. - Ability to read and interpret network diagrams, floor plans, and handbooks. - Physical stamina, manual dexterity, and proficiency with hand and power tools. - Diagnostic and troubleshooting capabilities for live networks. - Strong customer‑service communication skills. - Commitment to safety regulations and quality guidelines. - Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Minimum secondary education (high‑school diploma or equivalent). - Preferred certifications: BICSI Fibre Installation, NETA, or equivalent fibre‑optic qualifications. - Valid driver’s licence for site visits (if required).
