Overview Of The Role
We are seeking a talented and experienced DevOps Engineer to join our Mariner Innovations team to help in our planned growth, and contract opportunities for our clients in Atlantic Canada. In this role, you will be responsible for managing software releases and deployments, while also troubleshooting and resolving technical issues encountered by users in client-based projects.
This opportunity is open to full-time salaried employees, hourly employees, and Independent Contractors.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING IN THE ROLE:
Define configuration specifications and business analysis requirements
Plan, coordinate, and manage software releases across multiple environments, ensuring smooth delivery from development through to production.
Design and implement robust CI/CD practices to support frequent, reliable, and automated release cycles.
Architect, build, and maintain scalable release automation solutions that improve delivery speed while minimizing risk.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (development, QA, operations, product, and security) to schedule, communicate, and execute release plans.
Monitor and optimize release pipelines and deployments, proactively troubleshooting issues to ensure reliability, availability, and minimal downtime.
Implement and refine strategies for deployment automation, including canary releases, feature flags, blue/green deployments, and rollback mechanisms.
Develop and maintain infrastructure and configuration management tools to ensure consistent environments across development, testing, staging, and production.
Ensure compliance with governance, security, and audit requirements by maintaining documentation, sign-offs, and release approvals.
Drive efficiency by automating release-related tasks, reducing manual intervention and improving predictability in delivery cycles.
Stay current with best practices, tools, and emerging trends in DevOps, release management, and software delivery automation.
WHAT SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS YOU'LL NEED TO DO THE JOB:
University Degree in Information Technology or equivalency in training and work experience.
5+ years of experience as a Release Engineer in a DevOps team environment using agile methodology.
Skills in setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines).
Strong understanding in branching strategies, version control, and release s equencing.
Ability to coordinate development, QA, staging, and production environments
Demonstrated experience ensuring consistency of data, configurations, and code across sandboxes.
Experience in Git (or similar tools) for managing code branches, pull requests, and merges.
Demonstrated ability in coordinating release windows, blackout periods, and stakeholder communication
Proven ability to manage metadata across Salesforce environments would be considered an asset.
