Job Description

Primary Responsibilities
Administer and support Microsoft SQL Server databases (on-prem and Azure SQL PaaS)
Automate routine DBA tasks using PowerShell and other scripting tools
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize database performance using tools like Extended Events, Performance Monitor, and execution plan analysis
Perform backup, recovery, and high availability operations, including log shipping, replication, and restore strategies
Ensure security compliance and implement best practices in Azure SQL Server network security, Entra ID authentication, and Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) scenarios
Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to support application deployments and resolve data-related issues
Participate in application support aligned with ITIL service management principles
Maintain comprehensive documentation and operational procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications
7+ years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server
5+ years of experience in Azure SQL environments (PaaS)
Expert-level understanding of database operational automation
Strong proficiency in PowerShell scripting
Experience in performance tuning and query optimization
Hands-on experience with:
Stored procedures, triggers, views, functions
Indexes and constraints
Blocking and deadlock resolution
Strong troubleshooting skills for:
Replication, log shipping, backup/restore, and database integrity
Connectivity and security issues
Knowledge of: Azure SQL Server network security, Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) authentication, Azure networking principles
Familiarity with third-party DBA tools such as: Toad, pgAdmin, DBeaver, dbForge, and Visual Studio
Exposure to PostgreSQL is a plus
