Our client is a fast-growing fintech startup building platforms for middle-market small businesses. They partner with trade organizations to provide SMBs with banking, bill pay, payroll, taxes, and AI-driven financial tools.

Job Description

They are hiring two Back End Engineers to build and maintain robust backend systems that handle high transaction volumes. This role focuses on ensuring the platform is secure, reliable, and scalable while working closely with frontend engineers and product teams.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain backend systems using TypeScript.
Ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of the platform.
Collaborate with frontend engineers and product teams on new features.
Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and system design.
Communicate clearly in a fast-paced, small-team environment.

Requirements

5+ years of professional back-end development experience.
Strong TypeScript expertise.
Degree from a top-tier university (Berkeley, Stanford, Ivy League, UT Austin, UIUC, or leading Canadian universities like Waterloo, UBC, Toronto).
Prior experience at startups or in fintech, AI, or quantitative roles is highly valued.
Excellent communication skills and ownership mentality.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.

Competitive salary: $250-260K USD (~$300-320K CAD) + ~0.3% equity.
