Data Architect - Databricks Migration

Location: Paris - Hybrid

Contract: Long-term freelance

Rates: Negotiable

We're looking for a Data Architect to lead a full data platform migration from Oracle and Snowflake to Databricks. You'll play a key role in defining the architecture, strategy, and technical roadmap for this transition, ensuring scalability, performance, and long-term maintainability.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a leading media and video streaming organisation, modernising their entire data ecosystem and driving best practices across data engineering, governance, and analytics.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement the target Databricks data architecture, ensuring alignment with business goals and data governance principles.
Define migration strategies and lead the end-to-end data migration from Oracle and/or Snowflake to Databricks.
Collaborate closely with Data Engineers, Analysts, and Product teams to ensure smooth integration and optimal performance.
Establish data modelling standards, pipelines, and frameworks for large-scale data processing.
Optimise data workflows for efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
Provide architectural guidance and mentorship to technical teams during and after the migration.

Required Skills & Experience

Proven experience as a Data Architect or Senior Data Engineer in large-scale data environments.
Strong hands-on experience with Databricks (architecture, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, ETL pipelines, etc.).
Solid understanding of data warehousing principles and modern data lakehouse architectures.
Fluent in French (spoken and written).
Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have

Previous experience with Oracle and/or Snowflake platforms.
Background in the Video Streaming, Media, or OTT industry.
Familiarity with data governance, MLOps, or real-time analytics environments.
