THE ROLE

The Data Conversion Developer plays a senior technical role within the Information Technology department, supporting the transition to a new (Enterprise Resource Planning) ERP. Reporting to the Enterprise Data Architect, this position collaborates with management, steering committees, departmental subject matter experts, and external system integration consultants to deliver valuable services supporting school and district operations. The role is critical to the success of the enterprise system transformation, with specific responsibilities including mapping, extracting, cleansing, transforming, validating, and loading historical and operational data from the previous to the new ERP Financials, HCM, and Procurement modules. The Data Conversion Developer will also support testing cycles and reconciliation efforts between the systems, perform conversion tasks and system cutover activities under the direction of the Enterprise Data Architect.

Typical Responsibilities

Play a key role in the district's strategic project to implement a modern cloud-based ERP, directly supporting the Enterprise Data Architect and other project leaders.
Lead and perform data extraction and transformation processes for all relevant modules (Finance, HCM and Procurement).
Analyze previous database schema and source data structures to produce accurate data mappings to enterprise data objects
Collaborate with functional teams and leads to understand business requirements, data cleansing rules, and field-level validation.
Develop scripts, Extract Transform Load (ETL) routines, and data conversion programs to transform legacy data into ERP compatible formats.
Collaborate with Test Lead and functional leads to design and execute unit, system integration and user acceptance testing for all data conversion activities.
Develop and maintain test cases and scripts related to data loads and post data load activities.
Coordinate with business subject matter experts (SME), Test Lead and external system integrator teams to validate converted data for completeness, accuracy and compliance with functional requirements.

Create and maintain data validation and reconciliation procedures to ensure accuracy and integrity post load.
Support mock loads, data dress rehearsals, cutover activities, including error resolution and root cause analysis.
Document all mapping logic, transformation rules, exceptions, test results and reconciliation outcomes.
Support data governance efforts by identifying data quality issues and collaborating on remediation effort. As well as defining data attributes and data domains during conversion exercise with business SME and external system integrator.
Maintain documentation enabling IT staff to provide end-user support and training.
Research emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and methodologies to enhance system performance and security.
