Environments Manager

This organisation is moving away from traditional on-premises systems and needs an Environments Manager to improve how complex testing environments are provisioned and maintained.

Contract details

3 days per week in Central London
6-month initial contract with potential extension
2-stage interview process

Role overview

You'll manage both stakeholder coordination and the technical delivery of environments built from Oracle databases, Windows services, and third-party software. The position balances process management with hands-on technical execution.

Key responsibilities

Act as the central contact for all environment requests and scheduling
Maintain lifecycle schedules to ensure timely testing availability
Define and document streamlined environment provisioning processes
Provide transparency on environment status, timelines, and priorities
Optimise setup and teardown processes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness

Skills required

Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
Deep knowledge of Oracle Databases and Windows Servers
Understanding of cloud environments (preferably Azure)
Experience with automated deployment tools (Octopus, Artifactory)

Success indicators

Environments delivered on schedule and fit for testing
Stable performance throughout their lifecycle
Positive stakeholder feedback

Desirable

Experience working in regulated sectors such as finance, healthcare, or government
