Position Summary

The person in this role will be a member of the Global Data Privacy Team which is part of Milliman’s Legal and Compliance General Corporate Services led by the Chief Compliance Officer. This person will focus on the privacy compliance program for Global Corporate Departments and their associated international data processing activities, which involve complex data transfer implications. This person will collaborate with regional Data Privacy Counsels.

The person in this role will be supervised by the Global Data Privacy Director and be part of a supportive Legal & Compliance team led by the Chief Compliance Officer.

This role offers a Data Privacy Counsel the opportunity to develop on the global stage, with a broad range of responsibilities and the potential to advance into a leadership position focused on international data privacy.

This position is based in Milliman’s Paris office. We offer a hybrid arrangement (remote/onsite).

Responsibilities

Research and legal monitoring of new and revised global data transfer regulations.
Drafting of international Data Transfer Impact Assessments.
Management of the Intra-Group Data Transfer Agreement.
Legal advice on international data transfers and negotiation of international data sharing agreements.
Maintenance of the Records of Processing Activities of Global Corporate Departments.
Assistance with the Business Transformation Program.
Support for the Global Data Retention Project.
Supervision of the Privacy Program of Global Corporate Departments.
Assistance with the Due Diligence of global vendors, including conducting AI Due Diligence reviews.
Proactively identifying privacy risks in processes and systems and proposing mitigations.
Assistance with the drafting of relevant data privacy policies and with identifying any gaps in policies/procedures based on global data transfer regulations.
Preparation and presentation of data privacy trainings.
Assistance with the drafting of guidelines for international products and software (Privacy-by-Design), including conducting AI Due Diligence reviews.
Creation and maintenance of a network of DPCPs (Data Privacy Contact Persons), providing them with advice when needed.
Drafting and maintenance of appropriate delivery of global employee notices/consent forms.
Advise on the response to data privacy incidents, including corrective and preventative actions and collaboration with the main point of contact for the response to data privacy incidents globally.
Assistance with the drafting of Data Protection Impact Assessments (where required).
Monitoring of the implementation of data privacy recommendations made under Data Protection Impact Assessments.

Skills & Qualifications Required

Fully qualified lawyer in a relevant European jurisdiction.
5 years post admission experience working in data privacy law (law firm or in-house legal practice).
Excellent analytical skills
Strong and demonstrated understanding of international data transfer regulations
Good knowledge of AI regulations
Good knowledge of IT security
Ability to deal with various laws across several countries.
Ability to process, progress and complete matters independently, seeking guidance when needed
Excellent organization and planning skills
Contract drafting experience
Collaborative workstyle
Strong written and oral communication skills
Adaptability to embrace a dynamic and fast-paced environment
Good interpersonal skills

Skills & Qualifications Preferred

CIPP, CIPT, CIPM, and/or AIGP certification through the IAPP
