About the Role

The team is expanding its enterprise data platform and looking for a Data Architect experienced in building and scaling Azure Databricks-based solutions. This role will drive architectural design, governance, and future-proofing of the data ecosystem to support advanced analytics and AI initiatives across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Architect and evolve data platform on Azure Databricks, ensuring scalability, performance, and alignment with enterprise standards
Design and implement data ingestion frameworks that handle large-scale, complex data sources efficiently
Lead data governance initiatives, including metadata management, data lifecycle management, data modeling, data quality, and privacy
Implement and manage Unity Catalog for access control, security, and governance
Enhance and maintain the enterprise data model, preferably with a retail data model background
Define and rationalize solution design work packages and OOM estimates for stakeholders
Present technical solutions to executive and architecture review forums
Collaborate with Microsoft and Databricks customer success teams to ensure platform solutions are scalable and aligned with future product roadmaps
Provide guidance on data integration from SAP and other enterprise systems
Contribute to innovation efforts involving machine learning or generative AI where applicable

Required Skills & Experience

Proven experience architecting data platforms on Azure Databricks
Deep knowledge of data governance frameworks, metadata management, and lifecycle management
Hands-on experience with Unity Catalog, Azure Data Services, and data modeling best practices
Solid understanding of data ingestion patterns, ETL/ELT pipelines, and cloud data integration tools
Strong presentation and stakeholder communication skills
Experience collaborating with cloud vendor teams (Microsoft, Databricks)
Exposure to SAP data acquisition and retail data models is an asset
Familiarity with machine learning or Gen AI concepts is a plus
