Senior Software Developer – FinTech Platform (Ruby on Rails)
Remote within North America
We’re hiring a Senior Software Developer to help build and scale a financial technology platform used by thousands of employees and businesses across North America. This is a hands-on development role focused on creating innovative solutions that improve financial wellness, enhance user experience, and support rapid company growth.
You’ll join a fast-paced, mission-driven environment where engineering excellence and collaboration drive impact. As part of a cross-functional team, you’ll work on customer-facing products, internal systems, and third-party integrations that power a secure and scalable fintech ecosystem.
What You’ll Do
Design, build, and maintain scalable web and mobile applications using Ruby on Rails
Architect backend systems for flexibility, reliability, and performance
Integrate with third-party APIs and maintain existing data pipelines
Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues through creative problem-solving and data-driven analysis
Collaborate closely with product, customer success, and finance teams to bring new features to life
Participate in agile sprints, story grooming, and daily standups
Contribute to code reviews, mentorship, and best-practice discussions within your development team
Ensure adherence to secure coding standards and SDLC best practices
What You’ll Bring
4+ years of hands-on experience building and maintaining production applications in Ruby on Rails
Strong understanding of software design principles, including SOLID, domain-driven design, and test-driven development
Proven ability to handle challenges around scalability, concurrency, and background processing
Solid SQL and data analysis skills, with the curiosity to dig into data to solve problems
Full-stack mindset — comfortable owning features end-to-end, from backend to frontend and testing to delivery
Experience working in agile environments with tools like Git, GitHub, and Jira
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit
Bonus Points
Experience with React or React Native
Familiarity with AWS or other cloud environments
Exposure to BI tools (Metabase, Looker), ETL pipelines, or data engineering
Prior experience in financial technology, accounting systems, or payroll integrations
