My client is an innovative and fast-growing fintech company building high-performance, scalable backend systems powering real-world applications used by millions across the UK and Europe. As part of our continued growth, they're looking for a talented a Java/Kotlin Developer to join their backend engineering team and help drive their JVM-based platform forward.
The Role:
You’ll be working as part of a collaborative agile team to design, build, and maintain microservices and backend systems using Java, Kotlin, and the wider JVM ecosystem. This is a hands-on coding role with architectural input, ideal for engineers passionate about clean code, performance, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain scalable and resilient backend services using Java and Kotlin.
Leverage the JVM stack to build efficient, concurrent, and fault-tolerant systems.
Write clean, testable, and well-documented code following best practices.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (frontend, DevOps, product) in an agile environment.
Participate in code reviews, system design discussions, and architectural decisions.
Continuously improve system performance and reliability.
Contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements and deployment strategies.
Stay up to date with emerging technologies in the JVM and Kotlin ecosystems.

CI/CD: GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Terraform
What We’re Looking For:
5+ years’ experience in backend development using Java and/or Kotlin.
Strong understanding of the JVM internals, performance tuning, and memory management.
Solid grasp of microservices architecture and RESTful APIs.
Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
Familiarity with containerisation and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
A passion for building reliable, secure, and high-performance systems.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
