Our challenge

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Data Engineer specializing in Master Data Management (MDM) to lead the design, development, and implementation of enterprise-wide MDM solutions. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring data quality, consistency, and governance across our organization by building robust data pipelines, implementing MDM frameworks, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Mississauga, ON is CAD $110k – CAD $130k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

Lead the design, development, and deployment of Master Data Management (MDM) systems and solutions.
Build and maintain scalable data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and synchronization of master data.
Develop and enforce data governance policies in line with enterprise standards.
Collaborate with data architects, business analysts, and stakeholders to understand data requirements and define data definitions.
Implement data quality rules, deduplication, and hierarchy management within MDM frameworks.
Optimize MDM workflows for performance, reliability, and scalability.
Integrate MDM systems with various data sources, data warehouses, and downstream applications.
Document data models, architecture, processes, and workflows.
Ensure compliance with data security, privacy standards, and regulatory requirements.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies related to MDM, data engineering, and enterprise data management.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
8+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 3 years specializing in Master Data Management (MDM) within banking/financial services.
Strong expertise with MDM tools (Informatica, Collibra, IBM InfoSphere, Talend or similar).
Proficiency in SQL, Python, or other scripting languages.
Extensive experience in data modeling, relational databases, and data integration.
Knowledge of banking domains such as Customer 360, KYC, AML, Risk, or Payments.
Familiarity with data governance frameworks, regulatory compliance, and data privacy standards in banking.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
Experience with cloud-based data platforms (Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, etc.) is a plus.
Certification in MDM, data management, or cloud data services is preferred.

Preferred, but not required:

Familiarity with data cataloging and metadata management tools.
Experience with data governance frameworks and compliance standards.
Knowledge of data security best practices.
Certification in MDM tools or enterprise data management frameworks.
