I’m representing a client who’s scaling their AI capability and is searching for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join their team. This is a hands-on, high-impact position: you’ll design and ship advanced machine-learning solutions for enterprise customers, combine off-the-shelf models with custom research, and help translate commercial needs into technical deliverables.

Role overview

You’ll lead technical delivery on projects, work directly with customers and internal stakeholders, and help shape the product and engineering roadmap. This role combines architecture, implementation, and mentoring: you’ll write production code, validate new techniques, and coach more junior engineers.

Primary responsibilities

Serve as the technical lead on client engagements, owning solution design and delivery.
Convert business problems into actionable ML approaches and implementation plans.
Implement production-grade models and end-to-end pipelines (Python-based) in cloud environments.
Evaluate and pilot emerging ML tools and research, and bring promising approaches into the tech stack.
Maintain quality control across projects and ensure on-time, robust delivery.
Mentor and upskill junior engineers through code review, pair-programming and workshops.
Run technical demos and workshops with clients to demonstrate value and gather feedback.
Support sales and pre-sales with technical assessments and feasibility input.

Candidate profile

Fluent in Dutch and English; French is an advantage.
Advanced degree (MSc/PhD) in Computer Science, AI, or a quantitative field preferred.
5+ years’ practical experience in machine learning roles.
Strong Python skills; experience with Java or Scala is helpful.
Hands-on with frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
Track record delivering scalable ML systems to production.
Clear analytical thinking and strong problem-solving ability.
Experience with cloud platforms; Microsoft Azure experience is a plus.

Desirable extras

Published work or conference experience in AI/ML.
Prior experience leading technical teams or formal mentoring.
Knowledge in domains we focus on: Generative AI, NLP, Computer Vision, Time Series, MLOps, Digital Twins, manufacturing or financial services.
