Program Specialist (Customer Support & Events)

Overview

Our client, one of the worlds largest scientific organizations is looking to add a Program Specialist to join their team in supporting scientific conferences. As a Program Specialist, you'll play a pivotal role in managing and enhancing our clients annual meeting programs. This is an exciting opportunity to engage with stakeholders and ensure the seamless execution of scientific conferences. You'll be responsible for overseeing key production timelines, maintaining quality in published materials, and supporting the development of member-facing applications. You'll balance independent tasks with collaborative projects, fostering relationships that impact the scientific community.

Key Details

Work Model: Hybrid — Onsite in Washington, D.C. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are required in-office days.
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
Contract Type: W2 contract starting at 4 months, with a strong likelihood of extension and potential for permanent conversion for the right candidate.
Eligibility: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.

Required Skills

Strong written communication skills, essential for effective customer support.
Experience with administrative platforms such as Salesforce Lightning and Zoom Webinars.
Intermediate proficiency in Excel, including handling large datasets and reporting.
Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Outlook.
Proven project management expertise with a focus on deadline-driven environments.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Minimum of 3 years in customer-facing support or account management, with a focus on stakeholder relationship management.
Must have experience working in cloud- based systems

Nice To Have Skills

Experience in planning scientific conferences or meetings.
Familiarity with Asana.

Preferred Education And Experience

Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.
Prior experience in roles that involve significant project management and stakeholder interaction.

Other Details

Occasional travel for meetings, approximately one week per meeting (2-3 meetings a year), with the first travel anticipated around March 2026.
The position will start in the new year (January 2026) and is budgeted for an initial term of 3-4 months, with the potential for extension or conversion to a permanent role.
