Software Engineer – Xbox Experiences (Windows Gaming Handhelds)

About the Role

The Xbox Experiences team is seeking a talented Software Engineer to help shape the future of gaming on Windows-based handheld devices, including devices like the ASUS ROG Ally. In this role, you will design, develop, test, and maintain features across Game Bar, Windows, and the Xbox App on PC, directly impacting millions of gamers.

What You’ll Do

Design, fine-tune, and improve complex software features across Windows and Xbox gaming surfaces
Analyze system requirements and develop scalable software solutions
Create detailed specifications, technical documents, and test plans
Build new features using C++/C#/XAML and enhance existing code
Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues in both new and legacy systems
Conduct unit testing, ensure quality assurance, and validate post-implementation performance
Collaborate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, code reviews, and feature verification on devices
Prepare migration packages for system and user testing

Top Requirements (Must-Have Skills)

C++ (2–4 years professional experience)
C# (1–4 years)
UI/UX development for native Windows applications (2–4 years)
Strong background in data structures, algorithms, and software design
Experience using Git and working with large systems/codebases
Experience developing on Windows and troubleshooting across new + legacy systems

Ideal Candidate Profile

Hands-on experience developing C++ applications on Windows
Familiarity with the Windows codebase and native app UI development
Strong passion for gaming, PC gaming, or Windows gaming handhelds
Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
Strong communication and cross-team collaboration abilities
