Dhitek is recruiting a Strategic Project Manager to lead large, complex, and politically sensitive initiatives for the Government of Alberta. This is a full-time onsite contract role based in Edmonton, focused on business transformation, policy change, and service delivery improvements — not solely IT.
Scope of Services
The Project Manager will oversee all aspects of planning, execution, delivery, and closeout for strategic initiatives. Responsibilities include:
• Collaborating with program areas to develop proposals, charters, and planning documents
• Defining project organization structures, roles, and responsibilities
• Managing scope, budget, schedule, quality, and performance standards
• Identifying milestones, success factors, dependencies, and resource needs
• Contributing to deliverables (e.g., research, survey design, reporting)
• Leading project and steering committee meetings
• Documenting and communicating changes in scope, budget, or schedule
• Proactively managing risks, issues, and opportunities
• Supporting change management, business analysis, and stakeholder communications
• Completing handover of project outputs and documentation to PMO
• Assessing project outcomes and documenting lessons learned
Qualifications
Must Have:
• Bachelor’s Degree and Project Management Designation (e.g., PMP)
• 5+ years direct experience in non-IT project management
• 3+ years experience defining scope and goals with business stakeholders
• 3+ years experience developing charters, business cases, and plans
• 5+ years experience making recommendations on technical or policy matters
• 3+ years experience managing multiple projects concurrently
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to manage conflict, stress, and stakeholder relationships
• Available for onsite meetings and daily face-to-face client interactions
Nice to Have:
• 3+ years experience creating/managing forecasts in MS Project
• 5+ years experience facilitating meetings with stakeholders at all levels
• 5+ years experience using MS Project in a project server environment
• 3+ years experience working in or for the public sector
Submission Requirements
Contract Term: December 1, 2025 – March 31, 2026 (4 months approx.)
Extension Possible: Up to 12 months
• Resume with detailed project experience (MMM/YYYY format)
• All required experience must be described under the job/project where it was attained
• Three professional references (most recent listed first)
• Must pass background check and complete mandatory GoA training
• Mandatory training includes FOIP, cybersecurity, information management, and respectful workplace
Working Conditions
• Standard hours: Mon–Fri, 08:00–16:30 Alberta time
• Onsite role in Edmonton (no remote option)
