Senior Backend Developer (Java) - Fintech - Permanent - London (2 days a week) - £80 - 100k per annum

Are you a Senior Backend Developer who thrives on technical excellence and building systems that handle real money? Join a high-growth fintech company and spend 80% of your time hands-on building a robust, enterprise-grade platform.

This role is an individual contributor focused on technical influence and translating architectural vision into working systems.

Key Technology Skills

Languages & Frameworks: Expert-level proficiency in Java and the Spring framework, along with strong object-oriented design and design patterns.
Backend & Distributed Systems: Experience with microservices, event-driven architectures, high availability patterns, fault tolerance, and resilience engineering.
Cloud Platforms: Strong experience with AWS services including Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, CloudWatch, API Gateway, and EventBridge.
Databases: Strong experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and NoSQL patterns, query optimization, and transaction management.
APIs: Proven track record designing and building RESTful and event-driven APIs, including versioning strategies.
DevOps & Quality: Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or similar), Infrastructure as Code, testing strategies (unit, integration, contract testing), and code review practices.

Essential Industry Experience

Financial Services/Fintech: Deep understanding of fintech technology requirements, including transaction integrity, data security, audit trails, regulatory compliance, and data processing at scale.
Experience: 5+ years in backend development with a proven track record delivering financial services solutions.
