Senior Automation Engineer with SQL - Banking Domain

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Contract : 6 +Months

Job Description

Seeking a Senior Automation Engineer with strong experience in UI/API automation and advanced SQL for backend validation in banking applications. The role involves building automation frameworks, validating complex financial data, and supporting CI/CD pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain automation frameworks using Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Rest Assured.
Create automated scripts for UI, API, and backend testing.
Write complex SQL queries (second max, employee–manager hierarchy, data comparison returns 1/0, table reconciliation).
Perform end-to-end validation of banking transactions, payments, lending, and wealth systems.
Integrate automation with Jenkins/Azure DevOps/GitLab CI.
Work closely with Dev/BA teams; participate in Agile ceremonies.
Provide defect analysis and support continuous improvement.

Backend & SQL Testing (Core Requirement)

Write complex SQL queries for:
Finding second highest values
Employee–manager hierarchy queries
Data reconciliation between two tables
Conditional matching (return 1/0 based on column comparison)
Validate banking transactions, ledger entries, customer records, and payments using SQL queries.
Perform deep data validation and root-cause analysis using relational database concepts.

Required Skills

7+ years in QA Automation (Banking/Financial Services).
Strong SQL (joins, subqueries, window functions, data comparison).
Hands-on with Selenium/Playwright/Cypress/Rest Assured.
Experience in API automation & backend validation.
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and Git.
Familiarity with JIRA/Zephyr/ALM.
