Our direct client is seeking a skilled Datacenter Engineer to join their DC operations team in Sacramento. This role is critical to maintaining and optimizing our data center infrastructure that powers the overall mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy. You'll work in a fast-paced environment where automation, reliability, and innovation are paramount. The ideal candidate combines hands-on technical expertise with strong automation and scripting capabilities to ensure our infrastructure operates at peak performance.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot data center infrastructure including servers, storage systems, and network equipment
Develop and implement automation solutions using Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages to improve operational efficiency
Deploy and manage infrastructure monitoring systems (Prometheus, Nagios, Grafana) to ensure proactive issue detection and resolution
Perform hardware installations, upgrades, and replacements while minimizing system downtime
Execute root cause analysis for infrastructure incidents and implement preventive measures
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support infrastructure projects and capacity planning initiatives
Maintain comprehensive documentation of systems, processes, and procedures
Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical infrastructure
Integrate monitoring and ticketing systems through API development and management
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability and operational workflows

Required Qualifications

3+ years of hands-on experience in data center operations or infrastructure support roles
Strong scripting proficiency in Python, Bash, or similar languages
Demonstrated experience with automation frameworks and tools
Working knowledge of infrastructure monitoring platforms such as Prometheus, Nagios, or Grafana
Solid understanding of server hardware architecture and components
Proficiency with Linux and Windows operating systems
Strong grasp of network fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, and routing protocols
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities with keen attention to detail
Proven track record working in large-scale data center environments
Experience with API integration and development
Familiarity with ticketing systems such as Jira and related integrations
