Position Description: The Harquail Centre for Neuromodulation at Sunnybrook Research Institute is seeking a research coordinator to manage research activities related to Interventional Psychiatry treatments, including the delivery of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) as part of ongoing clinical research studies. TMS is a non-invasive form of brain stimulation that uses brief magnetic pulses to stimulate specific brain areas. This technique is being used in our research program to treat depression in youth and adults. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join a productive clinical research team investigating the use of TMS and other interventional treatments including ECT and ketamine for individuals with depression and anxiety disorders across the lifespan.

Key Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to:

Communicate with patients and family members regarding studies including screening referrals, consenting, enrolling patients, and booking study appointments
Liaise with clinical teams, administrative assistants, and research staff regarding booking of study appointments
Administer TMS to research participants using research treatment protocols after receiving training under the supervision of the PI
Have direct contact with patients to administer questionnaires and collect data.
Participate in the technical set-up and maintenance of TMS lab infrastructure
Perform data entry and clerical duties including maintenance of study files / records including use of a REDCap database
Assist with study protocol development, REB submissions, continuing reviews, and Clinical Trials registration
Work cooperatively and constructively with the other members of staff
Work within Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC) and observe Hospital rules and regulations, policies, procedures, practices, safety procedures and current legislation, in particular the Human Rights Code regarding discrimination and harassment
Ensure the confidentiality of patient, employee, and SHSC information at all times.
Perform the above functions in a manner which reflects SHSC Hospital philosophy and mission of service, while promoting and maintaining good public relations with patients, visitors, and staff

Qualifications and Skills: The successful candidate will have:

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a health-related field; a graduate or postgraduate degree in neuroscience or psychology is an asset
3 years of experience interacting with patients and families; preference will be given to candidates with Sunnybrook expertise
Proven interpersonal skills, self-directed, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Confidence in all components of Microsoft Office
Excellent computer skills, including the ability to familiarize with new software tools, is preferred
Experience with research databases such as REDCap is preferred
Experience in the use of VR technologies is an asset.
Experience in general data analysis and neuroimaging analysis is an asset
