Job Summary:
The QA Engineer (QA Automation Analyst 3) is responsible for designing, developing, and executing both manual and automated test scripts to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions. This role will work closely with business analysts, developers, product owners, and stakeholders to validate requirements, prepare UAT test cases, facilitate walkthroughs, and support testing activities across development, test, and UAT environments. The QA Engineer will manage defects using Jira, maintain requirements traceability matrices, and ensure testing activities align with Agile methodologies and project timelines. This position requires proven experience in test automation, API testing, SQL validation, and accessibility testing, with a strong focus on quality, communication, and problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
Test Planning, Design & Execution
Develop, maintain, and execute detailed manual and automated test cases based on business requirements and functional specifications.
Prepare and validate UAT test cases; conduct walkthrough sessions with stakeholders to ensure clarity and alignment.
Create comprehensive test plans covering scope, approach, timelines, and acceptance criteria.
Conduct various testing types: unit, integration, system, regression, smoke, performance, stress, and user acceptance testing.
Track test execution progress and produce regular testing status reports.
Automation & Tools
Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts using UFT (Unified Functional Testing).
Perform API testing using Postman, SOAPUI, JMeter, or similar tools, including automation of API assertions and workflows.
Use Xray for test case management and Jira for defect tracking, sprint execution, and Agile collaboration.
Develop automated tests to validate authentication, authorization, user roles, and access control.
Defect Management
Log, categorize, prioritize, and track defects using Jira, ensuring clear communication across teams.
Work closely with development teams to troubleshoot issues and support defect resolution.
Document defects thoroughly, including replication steps, logs, screenshots, and test data.
Data Validation & Technical Analysis
Write and execute complex SQL queries to validate backend data across CRUD operations.
Maintain requirements traceability matrices to ensure full coverage across all functional and non-functional specifications.
Analyze systems, processes, and requirements to identify gaps and recommend improvements.
Accessibility & Compliance
Utilize accessibility testing tools and assistive technologies to validate compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
Ensure that all tested software meets usability and accessibility guidelines.
Agile Collaboration
Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, and retrospectives.
Work closely with Scrum teams to deliver high-quality software releases on schedule.
Provide testing support across dev, test, and UAT environments to ensure smooth release cycles.
Communication & Documentation
Prepare clear, concise written documentation including test scripts, test results, traceability matrices, and defect logs.
Communicate effectively with team members, technical staff, stakeholders, and end users.
Respond to inquiries regarding errors, issues, or testing clarifications.
