The Opportunity

Within the Ground Engineering team we tackle the full range of technical challenges below the ground, from the design of deep basements, underground caverns and onshore and offshore foundations, the remediation of contaminated brownfield sites, the stabilization of landslides, designing in seismic countries through to providing ground related advice to our infrastructure and energy projects to deliver sustainable foundation solutions. Every project has a unique set of challenges and we draw upon the breadth of our technical expertise to ensure we find the most appropriate design and advice on our projects.

On this 6-8 week Internship you will be aligned to and working with members of our ground engineering team delivering real work to external clients. You will be analysing geological maps and data, historical information and technical reports to gather and present information, planning ground investigation works, visiting sites and communicating our designs and advice through reports, drawings, presentations and models. This will help you make a positive impact on society through the projects we deliver. You will gain knowledge of engineering projects, assessing sites for ground related risk, civil engineering and geotechnical design and will develop your skills in digital applications, data management, report writing and presenting alongside developing your skills in ground engineering.

Is this role right for you?

You will be studying or planning to study a degree in Civil Engineering, General Engineering (with an interest in ground engineering), a Geology or Earth Science based degree
you will have studied to A-level, with an ability in STEM subject and be competent in Maths
You have digital skills and competent using MS office, an interest in data management and coding would be useful
You have an interest in engineering, a desire to make a positive impact through your work and enjoy the prospect of tackling a new challenge every day
