Job Summary – IT Operational Process Manager

Position: IT Operational Process Manager (Cyber/Identity Access Management)
Location: Richmond, VA (Hybrid, 3 days/week onsite; local/nearby candidates only)
Client: Capital One (Strong financial industry experience required)
Type: Contract-to-hire (6 months, with possible extensions up to 2 years)
Experience Required: 5+ years overall, with process management and IAM/cybersecurity background

Key Responsibilities

Own and optimize end-to-end IT and cyber operational processes, with focus on Identity Access Management (IAM)
Design, document, and continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOPs), workflows, and service catalogs
Conduct process mapping, process optimization, and implement continuous improvement methodologies (Lean/Six Sigma preferred)
Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and RACI assessments to resolve process issues and clarify roles/responsibilities
Monitor process health using KPIs, SLAs, OLAs, throughput, and control charts
Support internal controls, audit processes, and risk remediation activities
Drive process automation to increase efficiency and reduce manual effort

Technical & Analytical Requirements

Strong technical aptitude to quickly understand existing systems, data flows, and how applications interact (e.g., APIs, file transfers)
Proficient in data analysis using Google Sheets (advanced formulas, graphing, query functions), SQL (run and modify queries), and related reporting tools
Capable of documenting procedures and improvement recommendations using Google Docs/Slides

Cybersecurity/Access Management

Deep understanding of cybersecurity and IAM concepts to ensure access processes comply with standards and reduce risk of inappropriate access

Preferred Qualifications

Yellow Belt certification or equivalent experience with end-to-end process improvement methodologies

Highly detail-oriented and organized
Effective communicator able to translate technical/process issues into actionable steps
Comfortable in a technical, fast-paced environment

Must be local to Richmond, VA or able to commute onsite 3 days/week
