Role Overview
The Software Engineer 2 will perform advanced application development and maintenance work, contributing to both front-end and back-end systems. The consultant will work closely with business users, analysts, and architects to analyze requirements, design solutions, develop enhancements, resolve issues, and support existing applications in an Agile SDLC environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, debug, document, and maintain complex web-based and client/server applications
Build and enhance front-end and back-end components using:
C# .NET / .NET Core
Blazor (Server and/or WebAssembly)
HTML5, CSS, JavaScript
Develop and enhance DevExpress UI components, including advanced data grids and interactive interfaces
Design, implement, and maintain SQL Server and Oracle database objects, including stored procedures and queries
Perform root cause analysis and resolve application defects and performance issues
Maintain backward compatibility while enhancing existing State of Texas licensing systems
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, understand constraints, and model technical solutions
Participate in Agile SDLC activities such as sprint planning, development, testing, and deployment
Present in-person application change demonstrations to stakeholders for approval
Recommend improvements to application development processes and standards
Provide ongoing application support and maintenance
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher
4+ years of experience developing web-based software applications
4+ years of experience in C# .NET development
Strong experience with:
Blazor
SQL Server and Oracle
Stored Procedures
HTML, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript
3+ years of experience working in an Agile SDLC environment
Experience collaborating with development teams and business stakeholders
2+ years of experience using Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar tools
Ability to work onsite in Austin, TX
Preferred Qualifications
Experience migrating applications from Java to C# .NET Blazor
Strong knowledge of responsive web design
Experience implementing WCAG / accessibility standards
Prior experience with Texas Department of Agriculture or Texas state systems
Experience supporting government or public-sector applications
