Job Specifications
We are seeking an experienced System Administrator to provide technical expertise, hands‑on support, and sustainment for a secure communication system. This role ensures mission‑critical voice communication systems remain operational, secure, and responsive to evolving requirements. This is a full-time onsite role for a Network Communications Specialist located in North Bay, ON.
The successful candidate will act as a technical liaison, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently and that system performance and customer needs are consistently communicated to the broader technical and support teams.
RESPONSIBILITES
Technical Support & Maintenance
Provide technical expertise, system solutions, demonstrations, and familiarization training on a secure communication platform.
Perform system checkout, operation, troubleshooting, repair, testing, and modification of secure communication platform components.
Execute software patches, OS updates, and new hardware/software installations.
Identify hardware/software issues, submit RMAs to OEM vendors, and track resolution.
Network & Voice Systems Support
Support and troubleshoot Cisco switches/routers, secure voice systems, and VoIP technologies.
Analyze existing VoIP and network architectures to identify improvements.
Install and maintain IP/PBX communication servers and related modules.
Work with Windows Server, VLANs, routing, and secure network configurations.
Ensure compliance with cybersecurity, information assurance, and network hardening requirements.
Operational & Administrative Duties
Maintain accurate service logs, change requests, and trouble tickets.
Manage the movement, accountability, and tracking of materials, tools, and equipment.
Assist in worksite setup following established policies and procedures.
Attend required meetings, teleconferences, and technical briefings.
Provide training to end users.
Technical Liaison Role
Serve as the central point for communicating technical issues, system updates, and emerging requirements to internal teams.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
5–8 years of experience in field service, systems maintenance, communications, or network operations.
BA/BS degree or equivalent combination of education and technical experience.
Must possess a Canadian Secret Level II Security Clearance.
Strong experience with: Cisco switches/routers, Voice systems, VoIP technologies, Windows Server, VLANs/routing protocols, Network configuration
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
Nice to Have
Relevant certifications – CCNA/ CCNP, MCSA/MCSE, CompTIA
Familiarity with cybersecurity compliance frameworks and secure communications systems.
