SURGICAL DIRECTORATE
3 Month Secondment Post
This post is Fixed term/Secondment for 3 months to meet the needs of the service.

An opportunity has arisen for x 1 Band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse for U5 Orthopaedic Elective Suite.
All applicants must be a Registered Nurse, with recent experience at Band 5 and meet the Band 6 Job Description person specification. Experience in both pathways is essential for this Senior Nursing post holder.
The position involves working as an Band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse on U5 Orthopaedic Elective Suite, with a Trauma and Orthopaedics speciality.
Applicants will also be required to undertake Mentorship of Student Nurses and preceptorship of newly qualified nurses whilst assisting the ward sister in managing the Ward, and ensuring that the Fundamentals of Care are maintained to a high standard.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidenced-based nursing care, working collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.
Assist in the management and organisation of their clinical area and participating in the education, development and supervision of other staff members.

NMC Reg Nurse
Diploma in Nursing or willingness to undertake
Advanced Life Support or willingness to undertake
Desirable criteria
Degree in Nursing or relevant clinical/professional subject
Management Qualification
Alert, Raat, APLS,PLS
Experience
Essential criteria
Significant post reg experience at band 5
Experience within an appropriate orthopaedic clinical area
Desirable criteria
Experience of undertaking audit work and standard setting
