Job Title: Data Scientist

Location: Richmond, VA

Type: Full Time

Our client, a leading financial technology organization, is seeking a Data Scientist to join their Enterprise Payments team and help transform payment and transfer channels through advanced analytics and machine learning.

Key Responsibilities

Partner with cross‑functional teams to design and deliver customer‑focused solutions.
Work across a diverse technology stack including Python, Snowflake, AWS, and more.
Develop machine learning models through all phases: design, training, evaluation, validation, and deployment.
Apply anomaly detection and agentic processes to optimize payment operations.
Communicate complex findings in a clear, business‑oriented manner to leadership and stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, etc.) plus 5+ years of experience in data analytics, OR
Master’s degree in a quantitative field or MBA with quantitative concentration plus 3+ years of experience, OR
PhD in a quantitative field.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s or PhD in a STEM discipline.
1+ year of experience with AWS.
3+ years of experience with Python.
3+ years of experience with machine learning.
3+ years of experience with SQL.
Experience building agentic systems and machine vision models.
