About Science & Humans
Science & Humans is Canada’s leading hormone health and longevity platform, serving tens of thousands of members and an expanding network of partner organizations. We blend diagnostics, personalized treatment, and digital health innovation to help people live healthier, longer lives.
As we scale our digital experience, we are building a world-class technology organization and seeking an Engineering leader to lead our development and platform teams into the next phase of growth.
The Opportunity
This role is ideal for an engineering leader who excels at aligning people, process, and technology to deliver secure, scalable, high-performing software. You will oversee full-stack development, DevOps/DevSecOps, and platform reliability, and will ensure the team executes with clarity, quality, and velocity.
You’ll bring engineering excellence to a continuous delivery environment, emphasizing flow efficiency, rapid iteration, and operational rigour.
This is a top technical leadership role—not heavy management bureaucracy—and is designed for someone hands-on enough to guide architectural decisions while mature enough to coach and elevate an engineering organization.
What You’ll Do
Engineering Leadership & People
Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team (full-stack, DevOps, platform).
Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, continuous improvement, and craftsmanship.
Recruit, onboard, and develop strong engineers who thrive in a fast-moving environment.
Drive clarity of work, structure, and expectations through modern engineering management practices.
Technical Direction & Architecture
Partner with the CIO and product leadership to set technical direction and engineering priorities.
Guide architectural decisions that ensure security, scalability, and maintainability.
Promote reusable patterns, modularity, and clean interfaces across all services and applications.
Ensure engineering decisions align with long-term business and technology goals.
Execution, Delivery & Flow Management
Run an engineering workflow, optimizing for flow efficiency.
Improve throughput, reduce bottlenecks, and ensure consistent delivery of high-quality software.
Establish engineering KPIs such as cycle time, deployment frequency, and change success rates.
Maintain strong alignment with Product on sequencing, tradeoffs, and outcomes.
Platform Reliability, DevOps & Security
Oversee cloud infrastructure, reliability, and platform operations.
Ensure robust CI/CD pipelines, environment stability, observability, and incident management.
Champion secure development practices, partnering with DevSecOps to reduce vulnerabilities and enforce security standards.
Guide teams in performance optimization, monitoring, and operational resilience.
What You Bring
8–12+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years in a senior engineering leadership role.
Proven ability to lead teams building modern, cloud-based software products.
Strong architectural thinking across frontend, backend, data, and platform layers.
Experience guiding teams through continuous delivery or flow-based development models.
Strong communicator capable of aligning engineers, product managers, clinicians, and business stakeholders.
Pragmatic leadership style—balances speed, quality, and security in a regulated or sensitive environment.
A bias for clarity, structure, outcomes, and high-performance engineering culture.
Nice to Have
Experience in digital health, insurance tech, or another regulated industry.
Familiarity with secure coding principles, app security fundamentals, and platform hardening best practices.
Background working with AI/ML teams or integrating data-driven features.
Why Join Science & Humans?
Lead a core technology function in a scaling company with a meaningful health mission.
Build and shape a modern engineering organization your way—processes, standards, culture.
Work directly with the CIO and executive leadership on product and platform strategy.
Competitive compensation, equity, and benefits.
A culture that values autonomy, ownership, continuous improvement, and real impact.
