Yes a degree is required and yes the person needs to be local. This person helps run and improve computer systems that live in the cloud — mainly using Amazon Web Services (AWS).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Build and maintain servers, storage, and software in the cloud instead of in physical data centers.

• Write code (in Python or PowerShell, for example) that automatically sets up or fixes systems — so people don’t have to do it manually every time.

• Monitor systems for problems, fix issues quickly, and make sure everything runs without downtime.

• Help software developers get their apps running in the cloud.

• Support data teams using tools like Databricks (a big-data analysis platform).

• Make systems harder to hack, faster to run, and easier to scale when the company grows.

SKILLS

• Know how to use cloud platforms like AWS or Microsoft Azure

• Understand Linux and Windows servers

• Use tools like Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes (to build and organize systems automatically)

• Be comfortable writing small programs or scripts

• Understand the basics of networking and cybersecurity

• Communicate well with both tech and non-tech people

We’re seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable, secure cloud environments. This role focuses on automation, cloud architecture, and DevOps practices that enable reliable delivery of technology products and services.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy cloud-based solutions with a focus on performance, availability, and scalability.

• Automate cloud operations and infrastructure using modern tools and scripting languages.

• Manage and support public cloud environments (preferably AWS), including configuration, deployment, and monitoring.

• Collaborate with software development, data, and analytics teams to integrate and optimize cloud services.

• Contribute to CI/CD pipeline development and DevOps process improvements.

• Conduct root cause analysis, resolve system issues, and implement improvements to prevent recurrence.

• Work with architects and business analysts to translate requirements into cloud-based implementations.

• Participate in code reviews, testing, and performance optimization for cloud-hosted applications.

• Provide leadership and technical direction on cloud technologies and automation strategies.

• Support release management, upgrades, and system maintenance, including occasional off-hours work.

Key Technologies

• AWS (preferred), Azure, or GCP

• Terraform, CloudFormation, Packer

• Ansible, Puppet, Chef

• Docker, Kubernetes

• Python, Node.js, PowerShell

• Splunk or similar tools

• Databricks, data engineering or analytics platform experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with cloud technologies and DevOps tools

• AWS Certification preferred

• Strong understanding of networking, cybersecurity, and storage fundamentals

• Knowledge of agile development and the full software development lifecycle

• Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills

• Self-driven learner who stays current with emerging cloud technologies

• Experience supporting API-driven architectures and integration solutions

• Familiarity with load testing, performance tuning, and test-driven development
